Clemson lands commitment from top in-state DL

Clemson landed a big commitment on Tuesday, the first day of the annual Dabo Swinney High School Football Camp.

Hartsville (S.C.) 2020 four-star defensive tackle Demonte Capehart has given a verbal commitment to the Tigers, The Clemson Insider has confirmed.

Capehart arrived to Clemson on Tuesday and is set to participate in the full first session of the Swinney Camp this week.

He also competed at the Swinney Camp last summer and attended a couple of games in the fall before returning for the spring game in April.

Capehart (6-5, 275) chose Clemson over offers from Duke, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

247Sports ranks Capehart as the No. 2 prospect in South Carolina, No. 2 defensive tackle and No. 38 overall prospect for the 2020 class.

As a sophomore last season, Capehart recorded seven sacks and over two dozen tackles for loss.

He becomes Clemson's first commitment in the class of 2020.
